Museum collection of archaeology and history of Vejer
Located in the old Casa Palacio Marqués de Tamarón, built in the 18th century, this recently created museum space contains 13 rooms, where a sample of archaeological collections are exhibited to learn about the historical evolution of the municipality from the Palaeolithic period to the present day.
It also has fine arts rooms, where the Julia Relinque collection is particularly noteworthy.
The building itself, which was renovated a few years ago, is well worth a visit. It has a trapezoidal floor plan that contrasts with the harmonious Neoclassical façade.
The façade of the ground floor and mezzanine is formed by a series of attached pilasters that frame the openings of the doorway and the cantilevered windows. A cornice separates the upper section, which has a central balcony over the doors and windows.
The latticework adds harmony to the ensemble of openings and blind walls.
It is accessed through a vestibule to a courtyard with four semicircular arches resting on four columns. Its central palm tree, a common indoor Kentia, planted in 1879, exceeds the height of the building.
Address: C/ Marqués de Tamarón, 10.
Price: 2.00€/pax (Children under 12 years, free) Groups 1,50€.
Tuesday to Sunday 10:30 am to 2 pm / 6 pm to 9 pm.
