COME AND GET TO KNOW IT
CRAFTSMANSHIP AND IN-HOUSE PRODUCTION
OUR CRAFTSMEN: FROM TRADITIONAL CRAFTSMANSHIP TO BRANDING WITH A NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL OUTLOOK.
The town of Vejer has always had a very important craft tradition, although due to the evolution of society many objects made with palm leaves, wicker… have fallen into disuse.
Nowadays, the handicraft sector in Vejer is very peculiar because, although we still have the handicrafts of yesteryear based mainly on objects made by basket makers, paper craftsmen and potters, it has evolved a lot.
In recent times, companies have settled in Vejer, creating their own products and their own brands, ideas that were born and/or materialised within our white walls, watching a sunset in El Palmar, or enjoying the marvellous natural environment of our villages.
Companies that have been greatly strengthened by online commerce, and that have created brands that are well adapted to the current market and with quality products.
These are products that we have seen born, and we see growing every day. It is worth highlighting the large number that have opted to create ecological products.

JUAN MARÍA CRAFTS
THE EXPERIENCE OF CRAFTSMANSHIP IN VEJER DE LA FRONTERA
Juan María is a self-taught ceramics craftsman with thirty years of experience.
He was born out of the growing demand from visitors to the old town of Vejer.
His production, with designs inspired by Vejer, using emblems such as the Cobijadas, its streets and corners, panoramic views, windmills, etc. are mainly intended for souvenirs and formal gifts using different techniques such as bas-reliefs, lathe, cold decoration and different types of enamels.
It should also be noted that all protocol orders are unique and personalised for events, such as trophies, commemorative plaques, souvenirs, etc.
JUANA, THE BASKET MAKER
giving life to a popular tradition that is being lost
Years, centuries, of popular tradition survive in a corner of the vejeriega street of Trafalgar. It is here that Juana pulls the strings of our nearby history. Her hands masterfully weave memories and from them emerge, as if by magic, baskets and baskets, hats, bags, brooms?
Rushes, willow wicker, palms taken from the earth, stolen from the marsh and the riverbed, surrender to the expert fingers of the craftswoman.
Like a treasure that survives the rush, the throwaway merchandise and the toxic material with which we fill our lives without even knowing it.
She lives from her artisan hands and recovers for the present and for our children to keep in their memory, a craft as old as humanity.
LA PÁJARA T-SHIRTS

In their catalogue they offer unisex, women’s, children’s and baby’s t-shirts, sweatshirts, aprons,… a lot of customisable garments with bright colours, to the satisfaction of the numerous visitors to Vejer de la Frontera.
The designs are exclusive to La Pájara and they can also personalise garments with their customers’ own designs.

Camisetas La Pájara is located halfway between the Plaza de España and the church of Divino Salvador, in a cosy shop located on the corner with the alleys of La Villa with its round window as a sign of identity, without a doubt a place worth visiting.
BEE INGENIOUS CANDLES AND MUGS
A DIFFERENT WAY OF LOOKING AT MEMORIES. CANDLES, MUGS...AND EVERYTHING MADE IN VEJER WITH LOVE.
Aromas are a form of expression for the two creatives from the Bee Ingenious graphic and web design studio, which they solidify in handmade ecological candles that they produce and sell both online and in their shop L De LuZ located in the Barrio de La Hoya in Vejer.
These two people from Madrid, who live in Vejer and love Vejer, have created two aromatic lines:
Remedios para la Nostalgia (Remedies for Nostalgia), with packaging inspired by old ceramic pharmacy jars.
These candles evoke, with a smile, the memory of places visited on holiday, or those unique moments of our childhood.
They pay homage to Vejer in two ways: with that typical smell of orange blossom in spring from our orange trees, or that of fig trees and sweet figs in summer, among other places; but they also bring back those smells so typical of our childhood such as the smell of old cinemas, cocoa with Maria biscuits for breakfast, or the ice creams and lollipops of yesteryear, among many others.
L de LuZ is a collection of 9 candles that combine aromatherapy and gemotherapy to help balance spaces and emotional states.
In their shop you can also find magnets, mugs… that they design and produce themselves.
You can’t miss their collection of mugs.
You can also buy their products in their online shop www.ldeluz.es
They ship nationally and internationally.
LOMO EN MANTECA
Our gastronomic tradition that goes beyond our frontiers
Lomo en manteca is so important that a day has been dedicated to it: the International Lomo en Manteca Day, celebrated every year in October, and a street in the centre, El Callejón del Lomo en Manteca (Lomo en Manteca Alley).
It is perfect for lunch, with chips or a salad, in a sandwich, and the lard on a piece of country bread for breakfast will be delicious.
The origin of this recipe can be found in the traditional pig slaughter, where the formula used to preserve the meat for a long time was to cover it with the lard obtained from the slaughter itself, thus preventing the meat or loin from decomposing and making it possible to have food all year round.
A mixture of pork loin, lard and other ingredients that we invite you to come and discover, for which we provide you with a list of the companies that make it:
- Venta Pinto
- Carnicería Antonio Reina
- Carnicería Hermanos Rojas
- Carnicería Luisa
- Carnicería Manolo El Viaje
- Carnicería Astorga
- Carnicería Juan Alba
- Carnicería San Miguel
- Carnicería Paco Melero

The history of kombuchería is the history of Kombucha in Spain.
Kombucha is a 100% natural beverage, made according to an ancient recipe of tea, sugar and Kombucha cultures.
Its fermentation transforms the tea or infusion into a beverage with a wide range of vitamins, enzymes, minerals and essential organic acids. It has been known since ancient times for its mildly stimulating and healing properties.
In 2003, in Vejer de la Frontera, Kombuchería was born, a small family project, whose aim was to bring Kombucha to Spain as a natural alternative to conventional soft drinks and as a complement to a healthy and balanced diet.
After years of paperwork and a lot of hard work, they managed to get Kombucha officially recognised and subsequently awarded the Bio certificate.
They have created a solid brand which they started producing in Vejer, where they maintain their organic shop and one of their main local and online sales points, but which they now manufacture in a warehouse in Conil de la Frontera.
The Lemonade of Andalusia
A non-carbonated, refreshing beverage made from organic lemons and various organic fruits. Without preservatives, colourings, artificial sweeteners or alcohol and in various flavours.
They were created by two Danish people in love with Andalusia, based in Vejer since 2005, who run their successful restaurant, Restaurante Patria in Vejer de la Frontera.
The idea was to offer something different to the restaurant’s customers, something healthier and with less sugar than conventional soft drinks in the Spanish catering trade.
In a short time it was a success. Based on just 4 ingredients in the right proportions: water, organic lemons, ginger, brown sugar, they had the formula for a great drink and a perfect combination to quench thirst.
The first year they served them in jugs in their restaurant, but the demand grew so much that other companies in the area were also interested in offering their delicious drinks to their customers, so they decided to bottle them in 250ml glass containers and start marketing them to the catering businesses in Cádiz.
Although at the beginning they produced the lemonades in their restaurant, nowadays they have a shop in La Plaza de la Paz in Vejer where they produce them by hand. Today they have achieved the seal of organic product, as their lemonades are produced with organic fruit from Andalusia.
